IRGC signals long-term strategy to erode US, Israeli power as regional strikes intensify

TEHRAN — Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) has outlined a long-term strategy aimed at gradually weakening U.S. and Israeli military influence across the West Asia region, as a wave of coordinated strikes and countermeasures underscores a deepening and increasingly complex conflict.

In recent statements, the IRGC described its ongoing operations as part of a broader campaign combining military pressure with strategic coordination among allied groups. Officials said the objective is to erode hostile forces over time while expanding the reach and capabilities of the “resistance front.”

The latest phase of operations has included missile and drone strikes targeting U.S.- and Israeli-linked sites across the Persian Gulf. Iranian forces reported hitting command facilities near a UAE air base, as well as a location in Bahrain associated with the U.S. Fifth Fleet. Additional targets included a radar installation in Saudi Arabia’s Dhahran region and a commercial vessel described as Israeli-linked.

Alongside offensive operations, Iran has emphasized its defensive posture. Air defense units reported intercepting multiple drones, including advanced U.S.-made systems, bringing the total number of downed unmanned aerial vehicles since the start of the conflict to nearly 150. A separate incident saw the interception of a LUCAS drone over Qeshm Island, highlighting the sustained aerial dimension of the confrontation.

Analysts say the combination of sustained strikes, evolving tactics, and regional coordination reflects a shift toward a prolonged war of attrition rather than a short-term escalation. Iranian officials have framed this approach as a means of gradually reshaping the regional balance of power, while warning that attempts by Washington or its allies to assert dominance over strategic waterways such as the Strait of Hormuz would ultimately fail.
